Freecash on Prima TV Prime News: How Deepfake Ads Hunted Your Time, Money and Sensitive Data

Yesterday I had the chance to speak on Prima TV's prime news about Freecash — the app that has been all over the internet recently. Fake deepfake ads promised hundreds of crowns per hour just for scrolling TikTok. In reality, the app hunted dozens of hours of users' time and, according to Malwarebytes, harvested extremely sensitive personal data. Here's a summary of what you need to know to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Freecash on Prima TV Prime News: How Deepfake Ads Hunted Your Time, Money and Sensitive Data

Yesterday I had the chance to speak on Prima TV about the Freecash app, which has been making waves on the internet recently. The reporter wanted to know what this app actually is. Here's a summary of the most important points you should know to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Prima TV report on the Freecash app — deepfake ads promising big earnings for scrolling TikTok

🤖 Artificial Intelligence and Deceptive Ads

The app spread massively through misleading ads promising huge earnings (up to 700 CZK / ~30 EUR per hour) just for ordinary scrolling on TikTok. To make it look credible, the creators produced deepfake videos — computer-manipulated clips that look entirely real. Using AI, they cloned voices and created fake users sharing their "secret tip for easy money".

⏳ A Trap for Your Time (and Sometimes Your Money)

The reality? There was no money for watching videos. It was a classic bait-and-switch — they promise you one thing and deliver something completely different. After downloading, the app pushed you into a system of tasks and games. To earn even a few cents you needed dozens of hours, and the app psychologically pressured you to spend your own money on partner games.

🕵️ Collection of the Most Sensitive Data

Security experts at Malwarebytes uncovered that earlier versions of the app's terms allowed massive collection of sensitive personal data — from biometric information to data on race and religion and even health status. The goal was to build a detailed user profile for further marketing purposes.

🛑 Action by Apple and Google

Thanks to journalists' and security experts' exposure, the giants finally lost patience. Because of these manipulative practices, Apple and Google removed Freecash from their stores in April 2026.

💡 Bottom Line from the Report

Freecash is not a classic virus that would empty your bank account — it's a textbook marketing scam. These tricks are now so sophisticated that anyone can fall for them. It's not your fault — it's their carefully designed strategy.

🛡️ How to Defend Yourself?

Always read reviews, and if an unknown app demands sensitive data in exchange for the promise of easy money, delete it immediately.
